The Founder

A little bit about our founder.

Libby is a 22 year old law university graduate she graduated university with her Bachelor of Laws degree in July 2023. She plans to continue studying at university for her Masters in Law whilst working in the solicitors office and one day plans on becoming a family law solicitor.

Since 2019 Libby has been an advocate for speech delay awareness and founded the Time for Talk initiative which has developed into an internationally recognised podcast and has allowed her to connect with multiple charities in her local area that support children with speech delay. After years of campaigning she received a response from Parliament acknowledging her efforts to make the education system more inclusive for children with additional needs and invisible disabilities. Recently Libby has become an ambassador for the Jeans for Genes organisation which helps support children with genetic disorders after her younger sister has been diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic condition.

Libby is a self published children’s author with her debut book series “Little Miss Speechless” which is based on her little sister’s inspiring journey with her speech delay. In her free time Libby volunteers in local libraries as part of story telling sessions to groups of children by helping teach them the importance of reading.

She plans to make a lasting impact not only on a national but international level using her voice to speak up about causes that are close to her heart.

Impact

The five year evolution of Time for Talk

The initiative began in 2019, starting small as an online educational series on social media raising awareness for speech delay in young children.

Fast forward to 2022 we were honoured to have received a response from MP Will Quince Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families.

Time for Talk had finally been recognised by the government after three years of advocacy work and to have such a influential government official label the campaign as “important” affirms that all the hard work we have been doing since 2019 has finally paid off!

It is a positive step that the Government are putting in actions to help children with SLCN achieve their full potential with the Schools White Paper.

Our initiative will continue to push for more funding and more acceptance regarding children with communication needs!
